The BADER CUP 2012 – Latest Regional Finals Results: Whitchurch (Cardiff)

The results from the latest Regional Finals of the prestigious BADER CUP ( now recognised as the largest national Mixed Greensome Stableford Golf Tournament) have come in from Whitchurch (Cardiff) Golf Club where the Regional Final was played on the 22nd August.

There have been several very close competitions this year and Whitchurch was another that went to the wire with all 3 top scoring pairs achieving 40 points and the result being decided on a countback. The competition was eventually won by Julia Barham and Alan Barham playing for Whitchurch. Many congratulations to them and to the runners up in an exciting finish.

The final results were:

Winners: Julia Barham & Alan Barham (Whitchurch, Cardiff, Golf Club) (-2 points): 40 points (B9 – 23)

Runners up: Emma Limer & Russ Bourton (Worlebury): 40 points (B9 – 18) (B6 – 13)

3rd: Kiera Probert & Martin Probert (Tawe Valley): 40 points (B9 – 18) (B6 – 10)

It is worth pointing out that the winners’ achievement was all the more note-worthy as they started with a 2 point deduction for representing the home golf club. It is the first time for many years that the home golf club have had a winner and despite this penalty, Julia Barham and Alan Barham managed to win through on a countback. Very well done!

Every year the BADER CUP raises a considerable amount for the Douglas Bader Foundation to help us to continue our valuable work on behalf of amputees and other disabled. We are extremely grateful to all the competitors, the participating Golf Clubs, our generous sponsors, Monarch Airlines, the Tivoli Lagos Hotel and the Onyria Palmares Beach and Golf Resort, as well as organisers John Southwick and his partner Pat who make the whole competition and its valued contribution possible.

More information about the BADER CUP can be found in the dedicated pages on the Website.
