The BADER CUP 2012 – Last Regional Finals Results in from Ely City

With the results now in from the Regional Finals held at Ely City Golf Club, Cambridgeshire, on the 28th August, all Regional Finals of the BADER CUP have now been played and all results are now recorded.

Ely City was actually the penultimate competition as Pitreavie was the last to be played but these results mark the end of another successful series of Regional Finals with Julie Dalton and Richard Dalton playing for Overstone Park triumphing against Kelly Saunders and Paul Saunders (Diss) to join the other winners in Portugal in November. Our congratulations to the winners, the runners up and to all who took part. We do hope that those of you who didn’t win this time will be back to play again next year. It’s certainly a final and a prize worth playing for!

The final score was:

Winners: Julie Dalton and Richard Dalton (Overstone Park): 39 points

Runners up: Kelly Saunders and Paul Saunders (Diss): 38 points

John Southwick also received this warming accolade from Barbara and Rod Hall, representing Belfairs Golf Club who took part in the Ely City Regional Finals:

“Dear Sir,

My wife and I played in the Regional Qualifier at Ely yesterday.

Congratulations and many thanks for providing an excellent day.

Ely City Golf Course is an exceptional venue and we will be striving hard to qualify as our

Club’s representatives again next year.

Best Regards,

Barbara & Rod Hall

Belfairs Golf Club”

As John said in his reply, we all at the Douglas Bader Foundation hope that they qualify again next year to represent Belfairs Golf Club and are very grateful to them for their support this year. We’re glad they enjoyed the venue and the competition.

With another round of BADER CUP Regional Finals played out, and only the Grand Finals to go, all at the Douglas Bader Foundation are sincerely grateful to all who have played a part in making the competition such a success so far this year despite the weather, which sadly cut a swathe through the qualifying rounds. The BADER CUP is now recognised to be the largest National Mixed Greensome Stableford Golf Tournament in Europe – an extraordinary achievement on the part of organisers, John Southwick and his partner, Pat, who still run the Tournament with such efficiency and panache. We are very thankful to them for their dedication and hard work, to all the participating Golf Clubs and competitors in both the qualifying and Regional Finals rounds and, of course, to our loyal and generous sponsors, Monarch Airlines, the Tivoli Lagos Hotel and the Onyria Palmares Beach & Golf Resort. The BADER CUP annually raises a considerable amount for the charity helping to enable us to continue our work on behalf of amputees and other disabled. Without you all there would be no BADER CUP.

We hope that those of you who haven’t made the Finals this year will come back for another attempt next year and that you have enjoyed the competition anyway. Many congratulations to the winners who will be flying out to Portugal in November to contest the Cup. We hope you have a very enjoyable Finals and some better weather to play in!

You’re special to us you know! So we thought you’d like a more personal service for more specific advice or maybe to make a 1-2-1 contact with another amputee.
