The BADER CUP 2012 – Regional Finals Results from Pitreavie

We’ve just received the results from the BADER CUP Regional Finals played at Pitreavie Golf Club in Scotland on the 29th August. The winners were Nina Morrison and Graham Howarth playing for Pumpherston who won with 41 points – many congratulations to them – with the 2nd and 3rd placed couples both achieving 40 points and the result being resolved by countback. A close thing but Linda Linsay and Derek Lindsay achieved a B9 score of 19 beating Sally Park and Craig Geekie into 3rd place.

I understand from John Southwick that it was only through sheer determination that the competition was played at all. The weather hasn’t been kind to the BADER CUP this year and, for a while, it looked as though it was going to beat the Pitreavie Regional Finalists. Thankfully, with a small break in the rain, some Olympic spirit and a lot of managerial ingenuity, a result was achieved.

Our congratulations to all 3 couples. Nina and Graham will now go on to contest the BADER CUP in the Grand Final in Portugal in November and we hope that the runners up will all come back for another attempt next year.

The final results were:

Winners: Nina Morrison & Graham Howarth (Pumpherston) – 41 points

Runners up: Linda Lindsay & Derek Lindsay (Marriott Dalmahoy) – 40 points (B9 – 19)

3rd: Sally Park & Craig Geekie (Deer Park) – 40 points (B9 – 16)

We are very grateful to all the competitors, the participating Golf Clubs, the organisers, John Southwick and his partner, Pat and our generous sponsors, Monarch Airlines, the Tivoli Lagos Hotel and the Onyria Palmares Beach & Golf Resort. Every year your combined efforts raise a considerable sum which goes towards enabling the Douglas Bader Foundation to continue its valuable work on behalf of amputees and other disabled. The BADER CUP is now recognised as the largest National Mixed Greensome Stableford golf competition in Europe, which is a great achievement and wouldn’t happen without your combined support and efforts.

* You can see the results in full and access them and those of the other Regional Finals in downloadable form on the Regional Finals Results Page.
