The BADER CUP – A message from the Organiser, John Southwick

Allowing for the worst wet weather during Spring and Summer we have now completed the twelve regional finals of the Silver Jubilee Bader Cup and the twelve finalists will be looking forward to the Grand Final in Portugal where they will be staying at the Tivoli Lagos Hotel from Novemer 4 to 8 and playing the final on the famous Palmares Golf Course.

Because of the wet weather we had some forty plus golf clubs who were unable to play a qualifying round even when they re-arranged an alternative date, so it has effected the number of entries this year, and we can only hope that 2013 will bring some better weather into the UK. Most of you will have received the advance entry forms which your competition secretary can complete and return before December 31. However, from January 1 we will have circulated the details of the Bader Cup 2013 and posted the details and entry forms on www.thebadercup.co.uk and I am delighted to say that we have the same Portuguese sponsors on board along with Monarch Airlines.

One of the highlights this year is the two golfing holidays that our sponsors provided for golfers and their friends who competed in the Bader Cup, and we have already received a good response and reservations from players already. So if you are thinking of some sunshine golfing for a change why not take a look at the details, which can be found on the website (www.thebadercup.co.uk) The first one is the Gala Golf Tournament 27 October to 3 November, which is open to individuals or groups of both sexes. The other is the New Year Mixed Tournament from 27 December 2012 to 3 January 2013, which is open to mixed pairs, and an added bonus to this event is the wonderful New Years Eve Banquet and Cabaret evening including a six course meal.

So why not make up a party from your golf club and enjoy some sunshine golf for a change!

Finally we thank everyone for their support and look forward to meeting many of you again in the future at the regional finals.

Kind regards

John Southwick

Tournament Director
