A Wonderful Result from NASS
By David Bickers – DBF C.E.O.
With the generous assistance of our sponsors, NASS’ fourteenth Annual Steel Industry Dinner took place at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull, on 11th October.
More than 340 guests enjoyed the showcase evening and were addressed by NASS President, Ian Harding. Principal Speaker, Lord Digby Jones Kt. was warmly received and his speech touched a chord with Members and guests who showed their appreciation with a standing ovation. Guest speaker, David Gunson, then delighted the audience with anecdotes about his career as an Air Traffic Controller.
The President’s Charity Collection and an auction of lots donated by:
- Lord Digby Jones Kt.
- Brown McFarlane Ltd.
- QBE Trade Credit
- Marriott Breadsall Priory Hotel
- Marriott St Pierre Hotel
raised a phenomenal £12,861.50 for the Douglas Bader Foundation, an organisation celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
Additionally, the President’s own company, Brown & Tawse Steelstock Ltd., also made a donation of £5,000 to the Charity from its B&T125 Fund, thereby bringing the total collection to a staggering £17,861.50.
David Bickers, DBF’s Chief Executive Officer, was on hand to receive the funds collected and was truly amazed at the amount amassed. NASS’ thanks are extended to everyone who participated and contributed on the evening.
