There are many ways you can help the Douglas Bader Foundation to service the limb loss community.

Become a Friend of the Foundation

To help us raise invaluable funds we are inviting supporters of our work to become a friend of the Foundation. You can become a Friend for £20 a year or a Corporate Friend for £200 a year.

Volunteering

We are always looking for volunteers to help with office administration; with organising our in-house events or to organise an event or activity on behalf of the foundation. If you think you can help us with an existing event, such as driving a transport vehicle for one of our challenges or helping out at a Bader Braves Young Aviators Day then please contact us by following this link.

Participation

We organise a number of exciting events and activities throughout the year. We actively encourage amputees and individuals with other disabilities to participate in these events alongside able bodied individuals and groups. This forms part of our mission for inclusion. Why not join us and participate in one of our exciting and often life-changing local or international challenges; such as walking the Great Wall of China or rowing a Dragon Boat. For more information on our events and activities please visit the Bader Challenge section of the website, where you can request an information pack. You may just have the time of your life!

You could also organise your own Event whereupon you could count on the advice and support of the DBF. Don’t forget we can also publicise your Event on our Website.

Financial Support

The Douglas Bader Foundation is reliant on charitable donations to carry out the invaluable work we do with the limb loss community. As with all useful services there is a cost for delivering these vital life lines. To continue our work we rely on donations from individuals, corporations and trusts. If you’ve found any of the services we offer useful and you’d like to make a contribution to the continued success of the DBF please visit our donation section at the top of the Home Page.

Introduction

The Douglas Bader Foundation is a charity organisation, formed in honour of Sir Douglas Bader in 1982 by family and friends, many of whom had flown side by side with Douglas during World War 2. Douglas was honoured in 1976 with a Knighthood for his contribution and work on behalf of the disabled. The mission of the foundation is to continue Douglas' work in conjunction with and on behalf of individuals with a disability. read more >

There’s already our popular Forum for information, support & chat. But sometimes you may feel in need of something extra.

You’re special to us you know! So we thought you’d like a more personal service for more specific advice or maybe to make a 1-2-1 contact with another amputee.

ART to FLY
Art to fly

Art to Fly, a specialist aviation artwork Website, was created by Pat Barnard, long-time friend of Sir Douglas, as a way of supporting the Douglas Bader Foundation disabled children’s Flying Days.

You can find out more about Art to Fly and the aviation paintings and drawings, aircraft prints and books – all signed by famous WW11 pilots and carefully selected and attractively priced for aviation art collectors - by visiting the Website:

www.arttofly.org

As Art To Fly is a non-profit organization, 100% of the profits of any sales go to help disabled children experience the joy of flight through the Douglas Bader Foundation’s “Bader Braves” Flying Days programme, details of which can be found on this Website.
