ARE YOU UP FOR A CHALLENGE?
The Douglas Bader Foundation challenges are an exciting and adventurous way of getting involved in fund-raising on behalf of the Foundation.
* We will soon be announcing challenges for 2012 so please keep checking these pages. *
****************************************************************
Everyone is welcome to join us. Previous participants have come from all walks of life and have included RAF personnel, students, medical professionals, friends of the Foundation and outdoor pursuit enthusiasts to name a few .
As a disability charity we actively encourage individuals with a disability to participate in these events. We are always looking for new challenges which will encourage the less able to re-engage in sport and leisure activities.
Over the years the varied challenges have raised more than £400,0000 for The Douglas Bader Foundation – a vital contribution towards our invaluable work and certainly funds raised in the spirit of the charity’s namesake.
Previous Challenges have included a Jordan Trek, a Granada – Seville Bike Challenge, a trek to Machu Picchu in Peru, a walk along (some of!) the Great Wall of China and various group and individual Bike and Trek Challenges in such divers countries as Cuba, Kenya, India and Russia. Some are reported on the Website and make inspirational reading. We always love to receive reports and photographs, which we hope will encourage others to participate.
As well as organised Challenges, we are always looking for new ideas. Do let us know if you have an idea for a challenge yourself – we are always happy to advise and encourage and can, of course, publicise it on the Website. Participants of previous challenges are also happy to pass on useful tips and information.
