We have copies of the amazing and much acclaimed hardback book, “Legend to Legacy,” which tracks the progress of the DBF from its inception following the death of Sir Douglas to the 40th Anniversary last year. A wonderful record of Douglas Bader’s legacy to amputees and people with disabilities and the support offered by the charity, this book is designed to be able to be opened at any page to learn more. The author, David Bickers MBE, CEO of the DBF, felt that enough history about Sir Douglas had been written and that a “coffee table” style of book would be a refreshing change. The book is packed with information, wonderful images and personal anecdotes from people involved with the charity, some from its inception, and supporters alike. It’s a high quality publication, a great read and has been received to high acclaim.

We also have the brilliant CD, “Legacy”, a musical tribute to Sir Douglas Bader, by renowned composer, Guy Farley. Designed to accompany performances by DBF’s “Bader’s Bus Company“, the world’s first team of pilots with disabilities to fly in formation, this incredible music is guaranteed to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Powerful and evocative it does what good music should do and transports you to another place and time frequently complete with goosebumps. In this instance that feeling is enhanced by the inclusion of some iconic sounds from the Battle of Britain such as the air-raid siren and the scramble-bell which would sound to send the pilots into action never knowing if they would return.
“Bader’s Bus Company” have disbanded after a very successful time together but their spirit, like that of Sir Douglas, lives on in the music.
